Colonie- Ruth D. Bushey, 70, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2016 at Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's in Albany. The daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Harrington) Paulsen, she was the New Year's Baby of 1946, after being born at 12:01am on New Year's Day.
She grew up in Albany, the only daughter with five brothers. She was passionate about her work, spending over 20 years as a teacher's assistant for Capital Region BOCES. She finished her career at Guilderland High School in 2008. She was an honorary member of the Ladies' Auxiliary at the Midway Fire Department.
Ruth's greatest love was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her husband of 47 years, raising her 3 sons and dedicating many hours to her beloved grandchildren. Her hobbies included scrapbooking, bowling, and the slots. Ruth had a special way of touching everyone she met through her caring and compassionate personality. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Ruth is survived by her husband George J. Bushey Jr.; her sons: Patrick (Lisha) Pinto, Jr., George J. (Debbie) Bushey III., and David M. (Colleen) Bushey, Sr.; her brothers: Frederick (Jan), Joseph (Bette), Arthur (Tracey), Donald and Jerry (Mary) Paulsen; her grandchildren: David Jr., Taylor, Joshua, George IV, Alicia and Andrew Bushey; her step-grandchildren: Danielle, Corie, Mason, Travis, Anna and Vanessa. Ruth had a special place in her heart for her sister-in-law Dawn Urquhart. She is also survived by her beloved dog Teddy; her brothers-in-law Tom Urquhart and Dan (Sue) Bushey and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, July 19 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 20 at St. Clare's Church, Colonie. Burial will be held at a later date.
Ruth's family would like to express their gratitude to the fifth floor staff of St. Peter's Hospital, the staff of Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, family and friends for their loving and compassionate care.
