Ruth E. Malinoski

d. January 2, 2011

COLONIE, NY – Ruth Elizabeth (Martin) Malinoski, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 2, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle. Born in Troy, she was the loving daughter of the late George and Gladys Martin. Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Lansingburgh High School where she was president of the business club selling war bonds during World War II. She married her husband, Frank in 1946 and eventually moved to Colonie where she resided for over fifty years. Ruth worked for the New York State Dept. of Criminal Justice Services retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Schuyler Heights Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer for Loudonville Community Church. Ruth traveled the country with her husband Frank attending reunions of the Carrier Aircraft Service Unit (CASU) #17 & #20, including one they hosted in Buffalo, NY. Over the years, Ruth had assembled a great collection of proven recipes she often shared with her family. She patiently taught her grandchildren to bake and they would spend many enjoyable hours making her famous cookies, pies and cakes. Ruth loved to host family picnics and barbeques where she supplied everyone with an abundance of food and desserts. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting and school events. Ruth simply loved life and all it had to offer her. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Malinoski for 61 years until his passing in 2007. Ruth is the devoted mother of George F. Malinoski and his wife, Edwina of Watervliet, Dr. Frank J. Malinoski and his wife, Judy of Leland, NC and Mark W. Malinoski and his wife, Maryann of Colonie. Ruth is the cherished grandmother of Amy E. Malinoski of Plano, TX, Lori Beth (Dave) Bernat of Burbank, CA, Lisa A. Johnson of Watervliet, Richard (Kathy) Peschel of Hillsborough, NH, Wayne (Patti) Peschel of Stoddard, NH, Matthew (Ingrid) Malinoski of Rockville, MD, Adam M. (Anna) Malinoski of Norwalk, CT and Aaron J. (Bethlyn) Malinoski of Colonie. She is the loving great-grandmother of Lillian and Sophia Johnson, Jessica, Richard, Abigail and Emily Peschel and Lucas Malinoski. Also surviving are her adoring sisters, Doris Macomber of Latham and Shirley LaFleur of Wynantskill as well as many, many nieces, nephews and friends. Ruth's family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of N.Y.O.H. in Latham who cared for her since her diagnosis of breast cancer in 1999 and to Community Hospice of Rensselaer for all of the support, care and comfort they provided during her illness.
