Ruth E. Winter

COLONIE - Ruth E. Winter, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 8, 2014. She resided at the Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home in North Greenbush upon her passing, but lived most of her life in Colonie, NY.

Ruth worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Albany several years ago and later was an office receptionist for Dr. Norbert Freemont in Colonie. Ruth's life was grounded in her faith and she was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Colonie for over 50 years. Throughout the years she was a teacher, mentor and helper in several Bible Studies, taught Youth Confirmation Classes, hosted prayer meetings in her home, and was a Vacation Bible School staff member.

Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband, Raymond C. Winter; her parents Ruth (Schreiber) and Walter L. Miller, and her brother Emerson Miller. She is survived by her loving children, Robert E. (Geraldine) Johnson of Loudonville, NY and Linda L. (Stuart) Palmer of Brunswick, NY; her loving grandchildren, Robert Jr. (Barbara) Johnson, Catherine Johnson, Sharon (Bernard Jr.) Radtke, Joseph (Jennifer) Palmer, Mark (Jennifer) Palmer, Amy (Matthew) Perala, and Carrie Palmer; fourteen cherished great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Jacob, Nicole, Laci, Robert III, Bernard III, Tessa, Daniel, Kimberly, Harlie, Kelsey, Owen, Alexander, and Ella and three cherished great-great grandchildren, Brittney, Isaiah, and Jade. She is also survived by a niece, Susan Rhodes of Tennessee.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 63 Mountain View Avenue, Colonie from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral service will follow at the church at 1:00 pm. Interment will be held at Memory Gardens in Colonie.

The family thanks the exemplary staff of the third floor, A wing at the Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home for the wonderful care that Ruth received there.
