DELMAR, NY – Ruth F. Kehl passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Home. She was 94 years old. Born on August 26, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Ernestine F. Frank and William R. Fischer. Mrs. Kehl attended school in Albany. Ruth was a life-long member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and their organist and choir director from 1942 to 1995. For many years Mrs. Kehl and the junior choir from St. John's participated in the annual festival of junior choirs held in Albany. In 1962 it was changed to the Youth Festival. She was the executive director of the Festival for five years. Ruth was president of the Alter Guild for many years, president of the Women of St. John's and member of TOTS, KITS and musical director of Vacation Church School. She is survived by her cousin, Marilyn Marcil and very close friends and caregivers, Caroline and Harvey, Eugenia and Wilma and Russ. A heartfelt thanks to the staff at Good Samaritan Home who provided Ruth with wonderful care, respect and understanding.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Albany. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie.
