Ruth H. Carey

COLONIE, NY – Ruth H. (Sally) Carey, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 29, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born and raised in Colonie. She graduated from Roessleville High School and was employed as a bookkeeper for Delmar Publishers and Lustrum Building Supply before retiring in 1981. She was the only child born to the late Harry and Margaret Geary. Ruth is the beloved wife of 64 years to William Carey. She will be forever remembered by her devoted children; Bill Carey of Germantown, MD, Cheryl (Michael) Ruede of Colonie, Robyn (Dennis) Freese of Colonie and Michael Carey of Colonie. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren; Lance Carey, Lance, Jodi, Nicole and Scott Endres, Kristy Fortune and Brendan and Matthew Carey; step-grandchildren Courtney, Casey and Michael Ruede along with 12 great-grandchildren and countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her. Ruth loved spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, watching the Yankee games, camping with their motor home and most of all, sharing her love with all that had the pleasure of knowing her. Ruth touched the lives of many people with her smile and maintained her trademark sense of caring and generosity all the way to the end. Ruth's family would like to thank the staff of Community Hospice of Albany for all of the care, support and kindness they gave to Ruth during her illness.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
