COLONIE – Ruth H. Murphy, 91, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes.
Ruth was born on July 27, 1918 in Denver, CO and was the daughter of the late Edward P. and Bessie (Weldy) Wurtzebach and the wife of 47 years to the late John J. Murphy.
Ruth worked as a payroll clerk for CDTA for 11 years before retiring in 1986. She enjoyed her family, bowling with the Sunset Seniors, swimming and traveling. She was active in the Rosary Society at St. Bridgit's Church in Watervliet then at St. Clare's Church in Colonie. She was also an auxiliary member of the Watervliet Elks.
Ruth is survived by her devoted children, Thomas Murphy, Aurelia M. (Tony) Fischer, Mary M. (James) Sebast, and Patricia M. (Joseph) Flacke; her loving grandchildren, Jennifer (Elias) Boumis, Corine Kaufman, Aurelia (Ken) Good, Brian and Clark Peters, Juliann (Brent) Richardson, and Joseph, Jonathan, Jessica and Joshua Flacke; her cherished great-grandchildren, Cole, Sophie, Audrey, Isabelle, and George.
A special thank you to Dr. Barry Lindenberg, Dr. Robert Cheney, Dr. Carolyn Eaton and Community Hospice of Albany for their care and concern given to Ruth.
Funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church, Colonie, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
