Ruth L. Bird

SCHENECTADY, NY - Ruth L. (Oakes) Bird, 84, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2009, at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Home in Schenectady. Ruth was born in Poughkeepsie, NY and was the daughter of the late Fred and Mary Oakes. She was predeceased by Leroy Bird, her loving husband of 38 years. Ruth is survived by her dear niece and caregiver, Patricia Allen, niece Gloria Heydary and her husband, Russ, niece Kelly Bird and nephew, Gregory (Margaret) Bird. She is also survived by her niece Louise Benedict of Pleasant Valley, NY. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the entire Kingsway Community for the care and support given to Ruth over the last ten months and through her final days.
Funeral services will be Friday at 12:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Coaches vs. Cancer fund, c/o the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Ruth L. Bird.
