COLONIE - Ruth Lillian Graves, 72, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2014 with her husband by her side.
Ruth was born March 23, 1942 in Albany. She worked as a supervisor at Hartford Insurance in Delmar before retiring to raise her children. Ruth was a member of the West Albany Ladies Auxiliary and lifelong parishioner of Christ Our Light Catholic Church, formerly St. Francis de Sales.
Ruth's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She most enjoyed traveling including numerous summers spent camping at Saranac Lake, multiple trips to Disney World, Las Vegas, and Maine, and more recently spending her winters in Florida.
Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Marvin C. Graves. She was the cherished daughter of Ruth Bleichert Hans and the late Victor W. Hans. She is also survived by her three adoring sons Victor Graves (Deborah) of Colonie, Kenneth Graves (Sandra) of Clifton Park, and Dennis Graves (Michelle) of Rotterdam, her grandchildren Matthew, Colin, Caitlin, Amanda, Kendall, Abigail, Emma, Eric, and Evan, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
In addition to her father, Ruth is predeceased by her sister Claire E. Graves.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the numerous doctors, nurses, and other medical staff that treated Ruth during the last 30 years, particularly the Cardiac Unit at St. Peter's Hospital.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Albany. Interment will be at Our Lady of Angels, Colonie.
