Ruth L. Tyrrell

GUILDERLAND - Ruth L. Tyrrell, 88, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Donnell House, Washington, Pennsylvania. She was born July 1, 1924 in Pond Eddy, New York, the daughter of the late Lewis and Leanore Edwards.

Mrs. Tyrrell was a 1941 graduate of Eldred High School and a graduate of the Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany for many years. Mrs. Tyrrell was a member of McKownville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed swimming, horses and playing the piano. Mrs. Tyrrell moved to McMurray, Pennsylvania in 2007.

Mrs. Tyrrell married F. Bray Tyrrell, who predeceased her October 26, 1993.

Surviving is her son; Martin Tyrrell of McMurray, Pennsylvania and a brother; Richard (Pauline) Edwards of Chicago, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Tyrrell was preceded in death by not only her husband but also a son; James Tyrrell.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay, New York on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to McKownville United Methodist Church, 1565 Western Avenue, Albany, NY 12203 in her name.
