NOWELL, RUTH M.
NISKAYUNA – Ruth M. Nowell, 84, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at home after a long illness. Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Catherine Earnshaw.
Ruth worked and retired from New York State after 10 plus years of service. She was a member of the Democratic Party. Ruth enjoyed writing poetry and was an avid reader.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James D. Nowell; half-sister Marion McCaffrey and companion James Weiler.
She is survived by her children, James H. (Buddy) Nowell of Edmonds, WA, Terrance R. (Shannon Black-Nowell) Nowell of Port Townsand, WA, and Tereas A. Smith of Schenectady; sister Catherine A. Allen of Citrus Springs, FL; grandchildren James Nowell, Lisa Nowell, Austin Nowell, Jennifer Smith and Wayne Smith; great-grandchildren Kareena Nandial-Smith and Ryan Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the wonderful care provided by Hospice.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial Contributions may be made to Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302, Schenectady City Mission, 425 Hamilton Street, Schenectady, NY 12305 or Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 in Ruth's name.
