Ruth M. Tenczar, 98, of Virginia Beach, VA and Albany, NY went to the Lord Friday April 5, 2019. Born November 2, 1920, Libby Schwabrow gave birth to Ruth in Canajoharie, NY. Ruth was one of six children. Ruth married John F Tenczar, a veteran, in 1949 they had 3 children together.
Ruth was very active in the community. She was an active member at VFW Post 8444, MOCA Aux 15, Colonie Fire Village Aux, Elk Aux, Polish American Citizens Club and volunteered at Eden Park Nursing Home and the VA Hospital. Ruth retired from the restaurant and bar business that she owned with her husband. It was in the family for 75 years.
Ruth is survived by her only living child, Susan Tenczar and her husband Jim Wilson; granddaughters, Suzanne Spencer, Triscia Klaas, Leanne Cicarelli and Lindsay Tenczar and great-grandchildren, Cove, Cheyenne, Darin and Kayla.
Relatives and friends may call from 10 - 11 a.m., Friday April 12th at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, where prayers will be offered at 11 a.m., in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
The family is asking in lieu of flowers to please make a donation in memory of Ruth Tenczar to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1396 Lynnhaven Parkway, Virginia Beach, VA 23453
Ruth was greatly respected by everyone that met her. She loved her customers. Always poised and grateful. She will be missed and treasured always.
