SCHENECTADY – Sabatino Capobianco, 87, passed away at his home on Monday, April 30, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sora, Frosinone, Italy, he was the son of the late Bartolo and Ascenza Cristini. He lived in Schenectady for most of his life. Sabatino was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country during World War II with the 636th Tank Destroyer Battallion. He worked for General Electric Company for thirty-eight years until his retirement. He was a talented furniture builder and enjoyed playing poker and tending to his garden.
Sabatino is the beloved husband of 65 years to Mary Capobianco. He is the devoted father of Peter (Deborah) Capobianco, Cynthia (the late Alan) DiThomas and Ann Marie Capobianco. He is the cherished grandfather of Alana (Douglas) Koch, Alan DiThomas, Peter Capobianco, Jr. and Leah (Fabian) Johnston. Also surviving are his loving great-grandchildren, Mary Olivia and Douglas Alan Koch. Sabatino was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Angelo Capobianco and one sister, Ruth Cippoloni.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of Sabatino Capobianco.
