Sadie Williams (Chandler)
August 20, 1933 – March 24, 2025
With deep love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Sadie Williams, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Sadie was born on August 20, 1933, in Greeleyville, South Carolina, to her loving parents, Josh and Ellen Chandler. She was the sixth of ten children, growing up in a home filled with love, faith, and resilience. In 1956, she moved to Troy, NY, with her sister, Floreen Chapman, in search of new opportunities. Not long after, the love of her life joined her, Theodore Williams, and on November 16, 1958, they were united in marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two wonderful children, Bernice Williams, and Theodore “Bootsy” Williams Jr.
Sadie’s faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church in Troy, NY, for over 30 years. She attended church every Sunday until her health no longer allowed, but even in her final days, she never stopped praising the Lord. Her church family knew her well for the elegant hats she wore each Sunday, a signature of her grace and style. She worshiped wholeheartedly and carried her love for Christ in everything she did.
She dedicated her career to caring for others, working as a nursing assistant at Eden Park Nursing Home until her well-earned retirement. She was a woman of great strength, kindness, and compassion, always placing the needs of others before her own.
Family was at the heart of everything Sadie did. She adored her three grandchildren, Brandon Williams, Jasmine Mack (Correll Mack), and Alesha Young, who brought her immense joy and pride. She was also a loving and supportive aunt to many nieces and nephews, offering them guidance, laughter, and unconditional love throughout their lives.
She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life—traveling to the casino with her husband, sharing laughter with loved ones, and indulging in one of her favorite pastimes: shopping. Her trips to Macy’s were legendary, and her famous words, “Charge, charge!”, will forever bring a smile to those who knew her best.
On March 24, 2025, Sadie peacefully transitioned from this life, surrounded by love. She has now been reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Theodore Williams Sr., where they will continue their journey together in eternal love and peace.
Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed but never forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and strength that will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
