Albany- Sally C. Cox, 99, passed away peacefully at her home on August 27, 2017. The daughter of the late Peter and Sarah (Dunn) Falkenheimer, Sally was born on October 26, 1917 in Albany, NY. She married Ross A. Cox in 1943, while he was on leave from the US Army Cavalry during World War II. He predeceased her in 1975.
She retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles after many years of service. She previously worked for Freihofer's Baking Company. In her spare time, she enjoyed going for walks, crocheting and crossword puzzles. Sally was also a fan of the New York Yankees and followed horseracing.
Sally was a kind and gentle soul. She was a long time parishioner of Our Lady of Angels Church and later Blessed Sacrament Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sally was predeceased by her brothers: William, Conrad, Peter, Robert and Joseph Falkenheimer and her sister Elizabeth Chalmers and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister-in-law Elsie Falkenheimer and several nieces and nephews.
Sally's family wishes to thank Home Instead, especially Naomi Heights and Carlissa Heart for their loving and compassionate care.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 12 pm on Friday, September 8, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 pm at the church. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Sally's name to The Salvation Army, 20 South Ferry Street, Albany, NY 12202.
