Albany- Salvatore G. Cusato, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 24, 1933 in Rasarno, Calabria, Italy; a son of the late Francesco and Maria Carmela Morabito Cusato.

In October of 1966, Salvatore married his loving wife of 51 years, Caterina Anastasio. At the age of 35, Salvatore and Caterina emigrated to the United States, where he become a baker for Freihofer's before becoming the owner of Cusato's Pizzeria & Deli in Albany for over 40 years. Salvatore was young at heart and very well loved. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be sadly missed.

Besides his wife, Salvatore is survived by his sons, Frank Cusato (Alisha Kuder), John Cusato, Peter Cusato (Susan); daughter, Carmela Bennett (Ken); grandchildren, Gabriella, Andrew, Isabella, Vanessa, Hailey, Karley, Julia and Salvatore; one brother and sister. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 10:30am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 607 Central Avenue, Albany, 12206. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Albany.
