Salvatore G. Catalfamo

COLONIE – Salvatore G. Catalfamo, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Sal was born on March 14, 1928 in Albany and was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Clara (Georgianni) Catalfamo. He served our country proudly in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1956. He was a self-employed painter for many years as well as a retired City of Albany School District employee. He lived life for his girls, family friends and rescue Cat, Oreo.

Sal is survived by his loving daughters, Regina Catalfamo, Donna Smallarz (Jeff Frosell), Maria Catalfamo (David DeGenero), and Ann Marie Catalfamo (Randy Zeller); his cherished granddaughters, Christina Smallarz and Emily Zeller; his former wife and lifelong friend, Regina "Junie" Boselli; his brothers, Phillip (Marge) Catalfamo, John (Diane) Catalfamo, and Victor (Shirley) Catalfamo; his sister, Sadie (Tony) Paratore and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. His is also survived by his special "son" that he never had, Peter Burnetter and all his friends at OTB and throughout the community. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Tony Catalfamo and his childhood dear friend, Donald Tanner.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Community Hospice of Albany and Denise Merrill for the care given to Sal.

Funeral services will be held at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie then to Blessed Sacrament Church, 609 Central Ave., Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont. Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
