ALBANY – Sam Crisafulli, 87, went to the Lord on Friday, June 24, 2005, suddenly at the Albany Medical Center.
Sam was born on April 28, 1918 in Washington, DC and was the son of the late Sebastian and Domenica LoConti Crisafulli. He resided in Albany for over 70 years.
Sam served in the US Army Air Corp with the 576th Material Squadron 77th 57 GP during WWII from 1942 to 1946 as a mechanic. He served on Tinian, Saipan, and Okinawa and serviced the Enola Gray on Tinian before its flight to Japan.
Sam was employed by the Schaefer Brewing Company and later the Watervliet Arsenal before retiring. Sam was a devout member of the Christian Assembly of God Church for over 70 years.
Sam is survived by his beloved wife Rose Testa Crisafulli, whom he married on July 6, 1947 and his son, Benjamin Crisafulli of Colonie. He is also survived by a brother-in-law and several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Sam was predeceased by his sisters, Carmella Boungiorno, Mary Belardo, Jennie Bongiorno and a brother, Onofrio.
Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 pm. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.), conducted by the Reverend Charles Gay. Calling hours will precede the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Graceland Cemetery.
