Sam "Gladys" Johansen, 63, passed away on January 16, 2013 with her family by her side. Sam was born in Cohoes, NY to the late John and Gladys (Goyette) Russell.
She enjoyed riding her trike with her husband, had a love for the ocean and cherished spending time with her children. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brothers Arthur and Harold Searles.
Sam is survived by her husband, Warren Johansen, her children Tammy (Gary) Sanford, Frank Swartout, Tracy (John) Carbone and Dominic (Tamillia) Williams. She is the sister of John Searles, Bob Searles, Gloria Searles, Wendy Lavigne and Kathy Osterhout. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 260 Osborne Rd. Latham, NY 12221 in Sam's memory.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:30 to 11:30 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie.
