East Greenbush- Samuel J. Barr, 78, passed away on August 28,2024. He was born October 8, 1945 in Troy, NY to the late Samuel and Nora S. (Doherty) Barr.
After graduating from Troy High School Class of 64’, Sam was called to serve in the U.S. Navy in 1966 and served his country for 2 years aboard the USS Gainard and 4 years inactive duty until his honorable discharge. In 1996, Samuel married his beloved wife Lynne A. Mosher and together they enjoyed many adventures before settling down in East Greenbush, NY.
Samuel worked as a Traveling Operator for the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation (National Grid) in Albany. His time with the company spanned over 37 years until his retirement.
Samuel was a car enthusiast. During his free time, he loved drag racing his Grand National Buick, with his nephew Joseph Sidoti at the Lebanon Valley Speedway. A self-proclaimed foodie, Samuel loved dining out and trying new restaurants all around the Capital District and beyond. He had a true gift of making people laugh and was never at a loss for words.
Along with his beloved wife Lynne, he is survived by his children Jason Barr, Eric Barr. Sisters Noreen (Harold) Wade, Marlene Ross. Nieces and Nephews Brian (Susan) Wade, Shelia (Bruce) Barkevich, Karen (Jim) Carminucci, Kevin (Beth) Wade, Matthew (Milly) Wade, Steven Ross, Keith Ross, Kimberly (Jeff) Miller, Gina (Cory) Wickham, Mattia Sidoti (Joseph Lavigne), Marissa (John) Montefusco, Jeffrey Sidoti. Several great nieces and nephews. Samuel will also be dearly missed by his nephew Joseph and his wife Keri, who were like children to him.
