Schenectady- Samuel F. Papa, 100, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Samuel was born on February 6, 1916 in Albany, NY and was the son of the late Maria Catena Campione and Anthony Papa. He was a proud WWII veteran. He was employed several years as an upholsterer with Montague Upholstering Company on Broadway, in Menands, NY. When the store closed, he became employed by NYS Teachers Retirement System in Albany, NY. He retired in 1984.
Sam was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Lofrumento. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage together. He became a resident of Kingsway Arms Assisted Living and always enjoyed the activities and friends he made there. We would like to thank the staff for the love and care they gave to him. We would also like to thank to express our appreciation to the nurses, aides, and doctors at Ellis Hospital C-Wing for their care and compassion.
Samuel is survived by his loving daughters; LaRaine R. (John) Toth, and Diane (Gerald D'Alessandro, his cherished grandchildren; Daniel Toth, Gerald J. D'Alessandro, David (Renee) Toth, Jodi (Sean) Cataldo, and Nicholas (Crystal) D'Alessandro, his cherished great-grandchildren; Isabelle, Samuel, Donovan, Ava, Amelia, Tyler, Shelby, and Sarah, and his Niece, Donna (Mickey) Fusco. He was predeceased by his sisters; Angeline Carciobolo, Catherine Perrino, Rose Addario, and Connie Marsh, and his brothers; Carmen, and Joe.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St, Schenectady, NY 12304, on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 9:00am. Entombment will take place immediately following at Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
