GUILDERLAND – Samuel L. McCann, 76, of Guilderland, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth McCann whom settled on Rapp Rd as part of the Great Migration from Shubuta, Mississippi. Sam was a proud member of the Commando Lodge #1105 IBPOE of W and the Mt. Zion Masonic Temple. He also belonged to the Wilborn Temple COGIC. He was employed for over 30 years with Laborers Local #190. Sam was an avid gardener and loved animals.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Aedjian McCann; his children, Bertha, Ted, Debbie, Kathy, Sherman, Troy, Chuck, Tom, Tracey and the late Jonathan and Samuel Jr. He is the brother of Ralph McCann (Mattie) and sister in law of Peggy Aedjian. He was predeceased by his brothers Sonny, James and Robert Lee McCann. Sam is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family and friends. He will be dearly missed by his canine companion, Shiloh.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday evening from 4 to 7 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Prayer services will be offered at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 12 noon at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Memorial contributions may be made to Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, Oakland Ave. Menands, NY 12204 in memory of Samuel L. McCann.
