Samuel Murdock, 81, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024 peacefully with his family by his side. Samuel was born on September 3, 1942 in Montgomery, AL to the late Roscoe and Inez (Inell) Murdock.
Sam attended school in Albany, and was a graduate of Albany High School. Sam was employed with the Albany City School District as a head custodian. He was also a skilled brick mason by trade and was a member of the Local Union #6 (now Local #2).
Sam was a baptized Jehovah's Witness for 54 years. He enjoyed preaching in the door to door ministry. He also loved deep sea fishing, watching sports, and listening to music.
Sam is survived by his wife,Thelma Murdock; children: Adaiha Murdock, Samuel Mukibi Murdock, Keturah Murdock-Williams, Daquand Murdock(Kenneth Beverly), Jeremy Horne-Murdock, Ta-Sean Murdock(Sumiko). Grandchildren: Hi-Tavia Sprague(Nick), Maurice J. Williams, Jamiah Williams, Kayla Beverly, Jade Horne, Zephaniah Murdock, Lael Horne, and Nala Horne. Great grandchildren: Kimelah Sprague, Ski'lah Sprague, Tayla Sprague, and Nixon Sprague. Siblings: Rose Murdock, Lucille Murdock, and Della Blair(John). Sam also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and close friends.
A memorial service for Samuel will be held on March 30, 2024 at 3pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 400 Albany Shaker Road, Albany, NY, 12211.
