Niskayuna- Sandra J. "Sam" Ovitt passed away on March 23, 2016 at Albany Medical Center. She was 59 years old. The daughter of the late Heinz K.W. and Ruth (Matthews) Harting, Sam was born on November 28, 1956 in Niskayuna, NY. Sam married Frank L. Ovitt, Jr. on January 11, 1975 in Colonie.
Sam was devoted to her family. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting. Sam loved to camp and spent 28 wonderful summers at Alpine Lake in Corinth. Sam will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Sam is survived by her husband of 41 years, Frank L. Ovitt, Jr.; her children: Frank M. Ovitt, Sr and his wife Jessica and Holly M. Santa Barbara and her husband Don; her cherished grandchildren: Frankie M. Ovitt, Jr., Anthony Heinz Ovitt and Samantha Evelyn Santa Barbara; her brother Richard Harting and his wife Jeannette and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, Sam was predeceased by her brother, John Harting.
In keeping with Sam's wishes there will be no services.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Sandra's name to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
