Sandra L. Jones (nee Oddy) beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, June 15, 2024.
Born on July 28, 1953, in Albany NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice Oddy.
Sandra worked for Rensselaer County Health Department as an LPN Nurse for twenty years, retiring in 2010. Sandra enjoyed vacationing in Florida (Orlando area), as well as vacations in Hull, Massachusetts (Boston area). She was well liked by family and friends and believed in the best of everyone. She enjoyed flower gardening, but her favorite past time was shopping; always looking for the deals for which she was successful. She will surely be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gerard T. Jones III, daughter Eileen Ortega of Poestenkill, grandsons Enrique (Diane) Ortega of Colorado, and Tomas (Amanda) Ortega of Poestenkill; her siblings Gloria (Robert) Sawyer of Buffalo, Paul (Robin) Oddy of Buffalo, Diane (Dave) Torres of Averill Park, and Darlene (Joe) Falcone of Arizona. Sandra is also survived by her best friend of 54 years, Patricia Oddy, of Chatham, as well as many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her two sons, Gerard T. Jones IV, and Bryan P. Jones.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Ryan, Penny, and Sonja of Rensselaer County Hospice for their care and compassion.
Visitation will take place on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. Interment will be private.
