Sandra Hazel Ann Joseph, 67, died October 4th, 2019, with her family by her side at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. She was known to her children as Sandy D.
Sandra was born August 11th 1952, in New Amsterdam, Guyana, South America, to the late William and Violet Emanuel.
She received a high school education from Edinburg High School, then further her studies at the Pegasus culinary school, where she obtained a certificate in Culinary Arts. Sandra was a successful small business owner in the New Amsterdam Market, where she was loved and admired for her savvy business abilities and her culinary skills. She met and married her life partner Vernon C. Joseph and they manage the business together.
Sandra later migrated to Albany, New York, in 1996, where she held the position of Activity Companion and Patient Service Associate at Albany Medical Center until her retirement. She loved and was an ardent member of The Black Catholic Apostolate church.
Sandra truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends & family. Enjoying delicious and appetizing food and traveling, especially bus trips with her dear friends. However, she enjoyed being a grandmother most of all. She had the most beautiful smile that could light up a room.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Vernon C. Joseph; loving children Cheryl, Maxwell (Angel)Williams, Maxine (Lynden) Williams, Royton (Lisa) Joseph, Shawn, Edith, & Tashela (Ron) Hicks; attentive grandmother of Deb, Jereme, Aliya, Jordan, Isaak, Isaiah, Roniyah, Shaniqwa, Luke, Kya, Shawn Jr., Olivia and Aaron; brothers William Jr. & Roger; sister Ingrid; aunt of Nigel and several other nephews and nieces.
Preceding her in death were her parents William Emanuel (father), Violet Emanuel (mother), Brenda Emanuel & Maurine Purpleheart (sisters).
Sandra leaves a legacy of love and happy memories for all of us to cherish. She is watching over us, smiling down, and enjoying the outpouring of love.
