ALBANY – Santa (Cannistraci) Maiorana, 90, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Castro Reale Terme, Sicily, Italy and lived in Albany for most of her life. Santa was a long time communicant of St. James Church. She was an avid gardener. She was the beloved wife of the late Francesco Maiorana. Santa is the devoted mother of Giovanni (Franca) Maiorana of Albany, Carmela (Scott) Mitchell of Ballston Spa and the late Guiseppe Maiorana. She is the sister of Albert Cannistraci, Carmelo Cannistraci, Angela Saporita and the late Francesca Meo, Santo Cannistraci, Antonino Cannistraci and Mary Elaqua. Santa is the cherished grandmother of Santina Rothaupt, Frank Maiorana, Maria Samaha, Tina Maiorana, Lauren Mitchell and Kaitlin Mitchell. She is the loving great-grandmother of Brian Rothaupt, Jr., Connor Rothaupt and Natalia Maiorana. Also surviving is her daughter-in-law, Maryann Maiorana as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 9:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. James Church at 0:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
