Santo was born in the town of Gualtieri Sicamino in Sicily, Italy to the late Nunzio and Anna Borgia Isgro. He and his bride, Catherine, came over to this country with two dollars in his pocket, as he loved to tell us and they forged a new prosperous life together. A barber by profession, Santo co-owned Madison Barber Shop in Albany for many years. He later retired from NYS office of General Services. Santo's passion in life was his family but a close second was his love of the earth and his gardens.
He is the beloved husband of fifty eight years to Catherine N. Isgro. In addition, he is survived by his daughter, Ann Marie Isgro of Loudonville, his son, Anthony Isgro (Kimberly) of Albany, his grandchildren Andrea Myers (Elijah), Dominic, Joseph, Anthony and Nicholas Isgro, Michael and Jonathan Schewe, and great grandchildren, Madysen and Silas Myers. He was predeceased by his brother Biagio Isgro.
His family would like to extend special appreciation to his caring doctors, Alan Fogel and Bruce Lyman and to the CCU staff and doctors at Albany Memorial Hospital, especially nurse Sharon who was an angel by his side.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 9:30 at St. Pius X Church in Loudonville. There will be no calling hours. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Santo's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
