LOUODNVILLE- Selma (Sally) B. Schmit, 80 of Loudonville, passed away on Wednesday March 28, 2007 at Albany Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Colonie and was the daughter of the late Harold and Leona Helmes Baird. Sally was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She was most proud of her loving family. Sally was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed camping, reading and was a talk show enthusiast.
She is the beloved wife of 59 years to Robert E. Schmit Sr. She is the devoted mother of Cynthia (Paul) Stambach, Robert E. (Linda) Schmit Jr., John H. (Christina) Schmit and the late Timothy A. Schmit. Sally is the sister of Margaret (Stanley) Beede, Doris (Bill) Tomaszweski and Sandra Baird. She is the cherished grandmother of Elisabeth and Abigail Stambach, Erika (Christopher) Richards, Andrea, Matthew, Robert III and Daniel Schmit. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10:00 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 pm at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church Building Fund, 63 Mountain View Ave. Albany NY 12205 . Expressions of sympathy may be made to Newcomerfamily.com
