Severino Debenedetto

COLONIE – Severino "Sam" DeBenedetto, 63, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Dominic and Maria DeBenedetto.
Sam was a resident of Colonie and later, Lansingburgh. He retired from the Wilton Developmental Center/DDSO after 32 years of service. He was an avid Yankee and Giants fan. In his free time, Sam enjoyed shooting at the gun range and loved spending time with his cherished grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Sam was predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Patricia DeBenedetto, and son Severino DeBenedetto, Jr.
He is survived by his children Amy DeBenedetto of Lansingburgh, Patrick De Benedetto of Colonie, and Kerrie DeBenedetto of Lansingburgh; grandchildren Christopher DeBenedetto, Ciara Mackey-DeBenedetto, Ryan DeBenedetto, Izaha DeBenedetto, Xavier DeBenedetto and Arie DeBenedetto; siblings Daniel DeBenedetto, Alfonso DeBenedetto, Louis DeBenedetto and Josephine DeBenedetto, and several godchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205 in Sam's name.
