Shadeema D.D. Jenkins

Shadeema Devine Diamond Jenkins (Deema), born, February 13, 1979, in Albany, New York to the late Harvey Lee Jenkins and Cynthia Dale-Pickens. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family, Shadeema was called to Glory on February 8, 2019.

Shadeema was educated in the Albany City School district. After graduating from Albany High School in 1997, Shadeema went on to further her education at the Schenectady Community College, where she played on the basketball team. Shadeema was employed with price chopper for all of her high school years straight through her college years. After college Shadeema was employed by the NYS Research Foundation where she was a Human Resource Administrative Clerk. Shadeema would work there until her illness.

Shadeema loved spending time with her daughters, family, and friends. She truly enjoyed all the family gatherings.
Shadeema leaves to cherish her loving memory: two daughters, Ensiyah Michael and Saniyra Lanier both of Albany NY, 3 sisters, Tiffany Jenkins, Kamina Pickens, and Kendaia Holmes all of Albany,NY, 1 brother, Kamel Pickens, maternal grandmother Rosa Wideman (affectionately known as Gam, nick name given to her by Shadeema), Step grandfather, William Wideman of Albany NY, 2 special Aunts, Stephanie Dale and Rosa Perry both of Albany, NY, Lifetime companion of 17 years, Rodney Lanier of Albany, NY, 3 Very special cousins, Harry Hart Jr., Albert Beverly and Quintasia Perry all of Albany, NY, 2 sisters from another mother, Sonya Mackey and Shaneeka Michael , both of Albany NY, 3 God Children, Ciaja Tirado, Riaja Tirado, and Pe'Airr Perry. A host of other Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.

Preceded in death by her father, Harvey Lee Jenkins, maternal grandfather, Wardell Dale, paternal grandmother, Betty Jenkins, paternal grandfather, George Jenkins Sr., Aunt, JoAnna Dale, Uncles, Joseph Dale Jr. John Dale, David Jenkins, Louie Jenkins, George Jenkins Jr., and Ricky Jenkins.

A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 from 11:00am - 12:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A funeral service will follow starting at 12:00pm. Burial will be held at Albany Rural Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
