Shannon A. Whitaker

SCHENECTADY, NY – Shannon A. Whitaker, 17, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 24, 2008 with her loving family by her side. She was born and raised in Schenectady. Shannon would have entered her senior year at Schenectady High School and was pursuing her dream to become a New York State Trooper. Shannon's hobbies included target shooting and hiking over 30 mountains in the Adirondack's with her father. Shannon is the beloved daughter of Norman E. Whitaker and Joyce Conway, both of Schenectady. She is the cherished sister of Meagan Whitaker, Rosie Conway, Brian Murray, Brianna Murray and Lyza. She is the loving granddaughter of Norman and Clara Whitaker of Guilderland. She is the niece of Brian Whitaker, Patricia Whitaker and Clara DePaula. Also surviving is her most loving boyfriend, Steve, her nephew, David Whitaker, as well as many cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 6:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Children's Fund, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294 in memory of Shannon A. Whitaker.
