Sharon M. Combs (Thompson)

Sharon Marie Thompson (Shari) was born to Rose (Thompson) Bland and the late James H. Thompson (Jimmy) on March 17, 1961 in Albany, New York.

On her life journey, Sharon was a beautiful daughter, sister, niece, wife, auntie, and friend. After graduating from Colonie Central High School in 1979, Sharon joined the U.S. Army where she served her country faithfully for seven years. While in the military, Sharon visited South Carolina, Germany, France, and Arizona, before settling in Virginia where she was honorably discharged. Her professional career flourished in Contracts, where she earned several professional certifications. Sharon retired on her birthday March 17, 2023, as a Senior Contracts Manager at Raytheon. She was extremely outgoing, an avid sports fan (Go Giants!) and loved jazz music.

Sharon met and married Paul M. Combs, Jr. in 2008. She was preceded by her grandmother, Viola (Sis) Bland, her sister Sonya, and her father, the late James Thompson. Sharon was called home on May 29, 2023. She left this world surrounded by her loving family at her side.
Left to cherish her memories are, her husband Paul Michael Combs, Jr.; mother, Rose Bland; brothers Edward and Alven (Martin) Thompson; in-laws, Ginger and Paul M. Combs Sr.; uncle Willie (Pop) Bland (Jocelyn); and aunts Patricia Bland, Maxcine Sharpe, Theresa Bland, and the late Arsola (Doll) Crenshaw.

Sharon is survived by her godmother Betty Salmond Young; godsisters Denise Young and Pamela and Deborah Tate; godchildren, Ivory Smith and Tobias Blair; adopted sisters, Patricia Crenshaw, Adoria Crenshaw and Tobias Z. Crenshaw; nieces; Tiffany, Ashley, and Rebecca Lhérisson; nephews: Kwame and Marcus Thompson, and her great-nieces and great-nephew Kia Martina Thompson, and Chloe and Cullen Lherisson-Higginbotham. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Vicki Freidline (Wade); nephews Owen Freidline, Ethan Freidline, and in memory, Ashton Freidline, as well as a host of cousins.
