Cohoes- Sharon Marie Kopcza, 73 passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Sharon was predeceased by her devoted husband of 35 years, Michael Andrew Kopcza Sr.; as well as her sister Janice Bayly and her brother Brian McCarthy. Sharon was the daughter of the late John and Eva McCarthy and the daughter-in-law of the late Michael and Marie Kopcza. Sharon is survived by her children, Michael (Melanie) Kopcza Jr., Paul (Shannon) Kopcza; her four grandchildren, Taylor Jones (Matt), Michael Kopcza III, Alexandra and Katie Kopcza, and her great granddaughter Emalina "Emmy" Jones; many cherished nieces and nephews.
Sharon, a pioneer for women in banking in the 1980's, worked her way from Bank Teller to Vice President at Fishkill National Bank, then to the Director of Human Resources at Trustco Bank in Schenectady and finishing her career as a Realtor at Coldwell Banker Prime Properties.
While Sharon's professional life was impressive by any measure, she was known for so much more. More to those who loved her, more to those lucky enough to call her "friend".
Sharon and her late husband "Andy" shared one of the great love stories. The kind that time could never diminish. They met young and began their life together. Standing by one another through hardships and joy equally. Growing a family of two sons while Andy served as a Police Officer. Their love was not told by mouth but showed in actions. As Sharon devoted every single moment to Andy during his illness and all the way to his passing. The word "break" did not enter her mind or heart as her hand never left his.
Sharon immensely enjoyed traveling with her family and spending time with her cherished dogs; Sara, Buddy and Chloe. She was a fervent reader and adored any and all activities with her beautiful family.
Sharon believed in having great passion in life and then committing all your drive to your dream. She easily found humor, and had the unmistakable laugh to show for it. And while it is true her sons lost their mother, many of us have also lost their best friend.
An earth without Sharon is so much dimmer, but heaven is now that much brighter.
