Rotterdam – Sharon Ottman-Lewis (nee: Mills), 62, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Elizabeth J. Mills (Bushey) and the late Richard J. Mills. Sharon graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1968 and received a Bachelor Degree at SUNY College Potsdam in 1974. She worked for the State of New York as a Systems Analyst, retiring in 2005 from the Division of Parole after 33 years of service.
Predeceased by her husband, Dwight N. Lewis, Sharon is survived by her mother, Elizabeth J. Mills; brother, Richard T. (Donna) Mills; sister, Susan J. (Michael) Tamer; nephew, Shawn M. (Rachel) Tamer; niece, Sara M. (Ronald) Shepard; uncle, Donald Bushey; and cousin, Michael Bushey.
Sharon was an active member at Western Turnpike Golf Course, being a member of the Western's Women's Golf League – the Broccoli Choppers as well as the DOC League. She enjoyed being a 'snow bird' in Myrtle Beach, vacationing and playing many rounds of golf. She created numerous beautiful counted cross stitched projects, and also enjoyed cooking, old movies, and her large collection of music CD's. Sharon also had a special love and compassion for animals.
Sharon's family wishes to express their appreciation for the compassionate care she received from the staff at both the Baptist Health Nursing Center – S Wing, 3rd floor and at Ellis Hospital – C Wing, 4th floor.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 12 noon at the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made in her name to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia NY 12302 in memory of Sharon Ottman-Lewis.
