Latham-Sharon A. Sherry (Peters), 82 passed away peacefully on February 19th, 2024. Sharon was born on February 12, 1942, in Troy N.Y, and lived her entire life in Latham N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Marion (Tanner) Peters and Charles V. Peters.
Sharon graduated from Catholic Central High School, Class of 1959. After high school she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher at St. Ambrose Church. She then worked for NYS Department of Labor, where she met many good friends, enjoying many years before retiring.
In 1971 she married the love of her life, Richard (Dick) F. Sherry. Sharon was a very quiet, reserved and kind person. Her husband Dick took care of all of their social activities. They enjoyed all the festivities at the North Albany Post 1610, especially St. Patrick's Day parade day, where they made and retained many life long friends. In their retirement they spent a few months in Florida, where once again with Dick's friendly outgoing way, they enjoyed a close knit group to socialize with. Sharon made sure they all had their corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day. After they lost her first dog, Buffy, they welcomed two new spoiled little girl pups, Kerry and Kelly. Sharon enjoyed knitting and crocheting, shopping, bowling, shopping, traveling to the Casinos with Dick, shopping, her summer time outings with her sister-in law Karen, shopping and loved Elvis. Most of all, Sharon loved her home and family. She hosted every Christmas for over 40 years. She wasn't blessed with her own children, but loved her nieces (especially Melissa) and nephews as her own.
Sharon was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years Dick Sherry in 2018, her parents, Charles and Marion Peters, her sister and brother-in-law Charlene and Ronald Robbins Sr., her brother in-law Donald Sherry and sister in-law Margaret Sherry.
She is survived by her sisters Lydamae Peters and Marionlynn Giroux, her sister-in-law Karen Sherry and brother-in-law Gerald Sherry (Ann Callahan). She also leaves nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to her friends and family for the love and support as Sharon was appreciative of the help to remain in her own house after Dick passed away. Love and Junk.
