Gloversville –
Shawn W. Meher passed away December 26, 2020. He was 51 years old. The only son of Daniel W. Meher and the late Suzanne Mary Hughes Meher, Shawn was born on December 20, 1969, in Albany, NY. Shawn graduated from Albany High School and went on to Hudson Valley Community College to earn his degree in Electrical Construction and Maintenance. He worked for many years in maintenance, and he could fix anything.
Shawn is survived by his adoring sons, Sean C. Meher, 19, and Daniel R. Meher, 15. In addition to his father, Daniel, Shawn is survived by his sisters, Erin M. (Lee) Davison, and Megan M. (Michael) Battibulli. Shawn's spirit will live on in all his nieces and nephews: Megan Battibulli, Kane Battibulli, Liam Davison, Connor Davison, Joseph Battibulli, and Abiageal Battibulli. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Shawn was a doting, and fiercely supportive father to Sean and Daniel, whom he loved with abandon above all others. He was the loudest fan in the stands, hand-crafting his own giant, personalized signs to cheer on his sons at track meets or football games. He could build an artisan chair out of twigs, remodel a kitchen, hunt and dress a deer, frost a birthday cake to order for his sons' birthdays, and weld together pieces of junk bikes to create a bicycle gang for his kids and nieces and nephews – not because they needed it, because it was fun. He knew how to turn Mom's backyard into a pool party in an instant.
Shawn would do anything for you, whether he knew you or not. On snow days, he'd drive around in his truck to drag stranded drivers to safety. At his place of business, he'd transform from a maintenance manager into an emcee at a fashion show for seniors. His red hair, freckles and blue eyes would wear you down until you, too, were smiling.
Memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.
