Sheila Grace (Hedge-Holmes) Dedee, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Shaker Place.
Sheila was born in Reading, England and was the daughter of the late Walter Ralph and Mary Sarah (Mins) Peacock. She brought her family to the United States in 1976.
She was the devoted wife to the late Leo Dedee.
Sheila was a life long communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Cohoes, where she would provide communion to the many friends and neighbors in her building who were unable to get out. She was a person who would always give to others many times making contributions to several different charities so they would not go without. She enjoyed going to the casino, making arts and crafts, knitting and helping her friends learn how to knit, cooking and baking her mince pies but most of all spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was predeceased by her first husband John Hedge-Holmes and by six sisters and brothers.
Sheila is survived by her children, Kenneth Peacock, Martin (Sheila) Oliver, and Mary (Karen L. Ward) Hedge-Holmes. Her step-children, Dody (Dan) Dearstyne, Cris (Bill) Flory, Leo (Lucy) Dedee and Tim (Darlene) Dedee. Her sisters, Joan Plouffe and Milly Briggs and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY on Friday January 3, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery Menands, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Center for Disability Services at 22 Corporate Woods Blvd., Albany, NY 12205 in Sheila's memory.
