Sherby Dean Graves, 56, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Ellis hospital with her loving family by her side. Sherby was the daughter of the late Dorothy Singleton and William McNeil Jr. Sherby was born in Marion SC and she resided there until her family moved to Albany, NY when she was a child, Sherby's family then moved to Schenectady, NY and at that time she met her husband Chad, they were together over 37 years, and married for 30 years. Their union brought their only child Shadeana Robinson. Sherby worked as a teacher, postal worker, and CNA before she was diagnosed with renal kidney failure in the mid 1990's. Since she was no longer working Sherby took that time to help take care of her family alongside her mother and sisters.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and going to the casino with her sister. Sherby will be remembered as a beautiful soul that always put others first.
Sherby is survived by her husband Chad Thompson, Daughter Shadeana Robinson, three grandchildren Sa'Riah Robinson, Nathan Robinson Jr, and Serenity Robinson. Her father William McNeil Jr, Sisters; Gwendolyn Owens, Latonia Tolliver, Vonda Thompson & Purthesia Williams. One brother Leon Graves Sr, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other close family and friends.
Calling hours will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church, 26 Wilson Ave, Albany, NY 12205 on Friday September 30, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 12:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow the service at Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
