Sherry L. Geib

COLONIE – Sherry L. Geib, 52, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family after fighting a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Sherry was born on May 11, 1961 in Schenectady. She is the daughter of James Seitz and Nancy Orlop-Hart and sister of Tammy Retz (John) and Jody Benton (William) who all live onto carry out her legacy.

Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 7 years, Robert G. Geib who was also her longtime childhood friend. She is the devoted and loving mother of Nathan Rhyne (Trisha), Justin Rhyne, and Zack Preville; stepmother of Kenneth Geib; grandmother of her three cherished granddaughters, Cara, Kegan, and Lilly; and the aunt of several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Betty Geib; her sisters-in-law, Debra Geib and Kathy Fennely and her brother-in-law, Thomas Geib.

Sherry was a nurse and most recently was employed by Northeast Health – Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her family, loved shopping, and weekends at Sacandaga Lake. She took pride in decorating and cooking for family events, arts and crafts, and spoiling her granddaughters.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be held at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
