Shirley A. Burckhard

ROTTERDAM – Shirley A. Burckhard, 71, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Ellis Hospital.

Shirley was born on March 20, 1941 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Couser) Butts. She worked for Combined Life Insurance Co. for the past 20 years, where her co-workers referred to her as "one of the Golden Girls". She was an avid and winning bingo player, loved traveling – especially to Cancun and North Carolina, but most especially spending time with her family and friends.

Shirley is survived by her loving children, Kimberlee (James) Ryan of Guilderland, Russell (Tracey) Burckhard of Niskayuna, Jeffrey (Kelly) Burckhard of Rotterdam and Randy (Stacy) Burckhard of Cohoes; her cherished grandchildren, Nicole S. Ryan, Johnathon, Gregory, Lindsey, Matthew, Emma and Jacob Burckhard and a grandson on the way; her loving sister, Joan Lochner and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, John D. Burckhard and her brothers, John and Harold Butts.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
