ALBANY - Shirley Ann (Herald) DeBenedetti passed away
peacefully on Thursday May 16, 2013 at Guilderland Center Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born in Albany to the late Anna DeBenedetti (Moscheo) and
the late Patsy DeBenedetti. She retired from the United States Postal Service.
Shirley loved painting, music, singing and dancing. Even while ill, she would sing and dance. She especially enjoyed Frank Sinatra. Shirley was a huge sports fan and a horse racing enthusiast. In addition to her mother and father, she was predeceased by her brothers
Patrick "Junior" and Chetto, and her sisters Sadie Carson (Saglembeni) and
Lucy Venard (Saglembeni).
Shirley is survived by her brothers Frank DeBenedetti (Connie) of Simpsonville, SC, and Robert DeBenedetti of East Greenbush, NY, her son Steven Herald of San Francisco, CA; her loving daughters Debra (Herald) Wasserman (Hal) of Mays Landing, NJ; Tami Barnard (Herald) of Albany and loving sons William (Sharon) Herald of Albany, NY, and Michael DeBenedetti of Delmar. She is the adored grandmother of Joshua; Samuel; Sara; Alexandrea; Dominick, Giavonna, and Great Grandson Carter. Shirley is also survived by her dear friend Frank Torres of Atlantic City, NJ. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Guilderland Center Nursing Home Staff for their care and support.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 11:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday morning from 9 to 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to the Guilderland Center Nursing Home's Alzheimer Unit in Shirley's memory.
