Shirley Ann Dusablon Geoffroy

February 10, 1938 — December 27, 2016

Shirley Ann Dusablon Geoffroy, age 78, of Guilderland passed away on December 27, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospital following heart surgery. She was born on February 10, 1938 in Burlington, VT, the daughter of Ernest and Thelma Dusablon.

Shirley attended Cathedral Grammar School and Cathedral High School in Burlington and graduated from the Bishop DeGoesbriand Hospital-Jeanne Mance School of Nursing in 1959. She was a Registered Nurse in Vermont and New York. While in Vermont, she met her future husband, Donald. Shirley and Donald were married on August 20, 1960 and moved to the Capital District in 1961. Since 1965, they have been residents of Guilderland.

Shirley was a dedicated parishioner of Christ the King Church for over 50 years. She served as a Lunch Mother when her children were in the school. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, a Eucharistic Minister, Visitation Minister and member of the Bereavement Ministry. For several years, she volunteered at Our Lady of Mercy and recently, assisted Donald in conducting the Communion Service at Atria Guilderland. She was also a member of the Dutch Treat Red Hats.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Ernest and sister Theresa. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Donald, and four children, Sandra (Trevor) Homewood of Eastbourne, U.K., Michael (Lynda) of Waynesboro, PA, Catherine (Michael Farfield) of Albany and Richard (Dawn) of Grafton, MA, seven grandchildren, Christopher, Megan and Michelle Andersen, Lily, Benjamin, Madeline and Isabelle Geoffroy, four brothers, Richard, Robert, Edward, and William, one sister, Thelma Thibault, and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley left many legacies to her friends and family. There have been seeds sow
n throughout Vermont and New York that blossom every year within hundreds of people. Through her actions and words, she taught life lessons, strength of family, dedication to friends, and boundless faith in God. Shirley loved piano, a few hours at the slots, breakfast with friends, bowling, baking, and spoiling her grandkids with treats.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 on Wednesday, January 4 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. Christ the King will perform a wake service at 4:30. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 on Thursday, January 5 at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Avenue, Albany, NY 12203. Burial will take place following the Mass at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
