Shirley M. Frenzel, 96, of Altamont, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2022 at Glendale Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Albany on September 25, 1925 to the late Edward and Anna Klopfer.
Shirley married the love of her life in 1946 shortly after he returned home from active duty in World War II. They shared a beautiful and loving 71 years of marriage.
She held several jobs throughout her life, but caring for her family, friends and home is what she will be remembered for most.
Shirley loved looking out her back window to see the deer and birds. She loved watching the New York Yankees, shopping, cooking and baking, and talking on the phone, but most of all Shirley loved her great grandsons, "Her boys". She took an interest in everything they did, they were the light of her life.
Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years, Joseph G. Frenzel, their cherished daughter Linda (Frenzel) Slutsky, her sisters Ruth (Kenneth) Kerton, Anna (Robert) Lemerise and brother George (Dickie) Klopfer.
She is survived by her loving grandchildren, Jason (Cynthia) Slutsky, Megan (Eric) Padelford, her great grandsons, Adam Boucher, Caden Padelford, Rylan Padelford, Jonah Slutsky, Sawyer Padelford and Reid Slutsky, nieces Lisa Kerton and Rebecca (George) Waldenmaier, cousin Tracy (David) Abbott, special neighbors Phil and Gerry, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Shirley's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Glendale Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Thursday March 3, 2022 from 5pm-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie NY
Funeral Services will take place on Friday March 4, 2022 at 11am at New Comer.
Interment to follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
