Shirley A. Gibson

Mechanicville- Shirley A. Gibson, 85, most recently of Mechanicville, NY passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 after a long illness. Born in Troy and raised in Cohoes she was the daughter of the late Marion Hannigan and William Evans. Shirley graduated from Cazenovia College in 1955 and worked for Verizon as well as in retail for many years, most recently at Boscov's in Clifton Park. She enjoyed golf and bowling, savored the company of friends, and was an ardent New York Giants fan. Her passion, however, was her family and her grandchildren were the light of her life. Shirley is survived by her two children, Debra A. Del Belso (James) and Douglas M. Gibson (Laurie) as well as her six grandchildren, James, Kristin and Stephanie Del Belso; Amanda (Kyle) Sullwold; and Emily and Jake Gibson. She is also survived by her dear sister Gail Schlotter as well as her niece Sandy Schlotter and her nephew John Schlotter.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Respecting Shirley's wishes there will be no services, but she asks that friends and family remember her in their prayers.
