Shirley Jean Grady, 79, passed away Thursday November 13, 2008 surrounded by her loving family after a fierce and courageous battle with cancer.
Shirley was born in Albany daughter to the late Adelbert and Madeline Sponable and was a lifelong area resident. She worked as a book keeper with Georgia Pacific Lumber Co. for many years. Shirley was an acclaimed artist, whose paintings won many awards. She also loved dancing playing golf. She had attained her Life Master in Bridge, enjoyed the company of her cats and was an accomplished musician but, her true passion was her family. Her husband Raymond Joseph Grady predeceased her June 5, 1980.
Shirley is survived by her children; Kathy (Angelo) Muscolino, Marie (Joey) Venezio, Marilyn (Jim) DeMartino and Raymond J. (Kelly) Grady II, grandchildren; Michael (Samantha) Muscolino, Stacie Muscolino, Jaime DeMartino, Nicholas DeMartino, Nicole Grady and Raymond J. Grady III, great-grandchildren; Grady and Cooper Muscolino and her sister Marjorie Bruno. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Grover, Ralph and Edward Sponable.
The funeral service will be Monday 10:00am at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave) then to Pine Grove United Methodist Church at 11:00am.
