ALBANY – Shirley H. Dinyer, 86, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Albany Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born on October 20, 1925 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Leon Nathan and Minnie (Rauscher Fox) Hamblin. She graduated from the Albany Girls Academy, the Garland School of Boston (now a part of Simmons College). After college she taught sewing for the Singer Sewing Co. In her later years she graduated from the Gemology Institute of America in Santa Monica, CA, where she became a self-employed gemologist. She enjoyed antiques, gemology, sewing, and traveling in her motor home.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Harold H. Dinyer. She is the mother of Stephen (Adriana Gómez Piccolo) Dinyer and the late Michael Dinyer and sister-in-law of John Dinyer. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, William Hamblin and her sisters, Marjorie Willis and Jane Lewis.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 12 to 1 p.m. Interment, Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
