Rensselear~ Shirley Haworth – (December 8, 1947 – October 11, 2021).
Shirley Haworth, born in Port Arthur, Texas was 73 years old when she passed away suddenly at her home in Rensselaer, New York.
She is survived by her husband, James Haworth, to whom she was married for 51 years, a son, James Haworth, and a sister, Bonnie Shelton. Also survived by 2 nephews, Eric Guldfeldt, and Benjamin Dougrey, and 2 nieces, Sheila (Steve) Wagenbaugh, and Jessica Dougrey.
She was predeceased by her father, Charlie Shelton, and her mother, Reva Shelton. Also predeceased by three sisters, Gloria Shelton, Kathleen Shelton, and Katherine (Mark) Dougrey.
Shirley graduated from Rensselaer High School in Rensselaer, NY in 1966. She worked for the next 16 years as a secretary for various insurance companies, financial institutions, and law firms in Albany, NY. She then transitioned to being a homemaker during for the next 40+ years working with her husband, and raising their son, James.
Shirley was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 56 years and served as a full-time minister (pioneer) for 4 years in the Rensselaer, NY congregation. For all of those 56 years, Shirley devoted many hours every month teaching the Bible throughout Rensselaer and the Capital District, helping people enjoy a relationship with God, and helping them with Bible principles to live better today and give them an opportunity for an eternal future of peace.
Shirley will be missed by so many friends, family, and the hundreds of people who met her and whose lives she touched.
