Shirley A. Houghtaling

Shirley A. Houghtaling, 85, of Latham, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at her home with her loving family by her side. Shirley was the daughter of the late Joseph H. Silcock and Ruby F. (McDonald) Silcock . She was the devoted wife of the late John Houghtaling. They were married 52 years until his passing in 2004.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family. She and her sister Betty enjoyed trips to Florida and cruises. Shirley also loved playing the piano and golf.

Loving mother of Linda (the late David) Newcomb, Jack (Sue) Houghtaling, Cathy (Mark) LaPrad, Sue (Norman) Martin and Mark (Michelle) Houghtaling. Cherished grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Dearest sister of Betty Havlik. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her siblings Joseph, Jack and Lorraine.

Relatives and friends may call 9:30-11:30 a.m., Tuesday June 5th at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205 where services will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens, Colonie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Community Hospice, 310 So. Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208 (Attn: The Gift Processing Center) in memory of Shirley A. Houghtaling.
