Shirley M. Hyson

SCHENECTADY, NY – Shirley M. Hyson, 81, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at The Joan Nicole Prince Home, after a fourteen year battle with cancer. She was born in St. Albans, VT and was the daughter of the late Alfred and Rita Ploof. Mrs. Hyson had resided in Schenectady for most of her life. Shirley is the beloved wife of 40 years to George W. Hyson. She is the mother of Anne Orlenski, Roger E. Lareau, Michael N. Lareau and David A. (Rosanne) Lareau. She is the stepmother of Sue O'Brien, Frank Hyson, Michael Hyson, George Hyson III and Ethel Hyson. Shirley is the sister of Mary (Robert) Lucious. Also surviving are four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her close friend, Gayle Majkowski.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of Shirley M. Hyson.
