COLONIE – Shirley M. Vogel, 75, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 27, 2011, surrounded by her loving husband and devoted children.
Born in Troy, She was raised in Green Island and graduated from Heatly High School. Shirley had worked for several years with Coopers & Lybrand in Albany. She was a devoted foster parent for twenty years. Shirley enjoyed going on cruises and visiting Las Vegas. She is the daughter of the late William and Dorothy Purcell and sister of the late James Purcell and Beverly Dunn.

Shirley is the beloved wife of 57 years to Robert L. Vogel. She is the loving mother of Debra (David) Miller, Patricia (Robert) Adams, Carol (Scott) Kotronis and Pauline (John) Liburdi. She is the sister of Bill (Barbara) Purcell and Donald (Grace) Purcell. Shirley is the cherished grandmother of Russell and Dorene Bilka, Heather Miller, Michelle, Jason and Casey Liburdi. She is the great grandmother of Ashley and Ryan Bilka. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 11:30 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorys Garden. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Shirley M. Vogel.
